Hindered By Past Disappointments?

On Wednesday, I shared one of the five most common reasons John Maxwell says people have trouble identifying their dreams. I want to continue to explore the other reasons.

2. SOME PEOPLE ARE HINDERED BY PAST DISAPPOINTMENTS AND HURTS.
John says that disappointment is the gap that exists between expectation and reality. All of us have encountered that gap. In fact, the gap exists for most of us frequently. Disappointments can be very damaging to us.

Mark Twain said, “We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it-and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on the hot stove-lid again-and that is well; but she will never sit down on a cold one anymore”.

When something goes wrong, we say, “I”ll never do that again!” What a mistake, especially when it comes to our dreams! Failure is the price we must pay to achieve success. Some people must face failure repeatedly before they move forward in the pursuit of their dreams. I don’t know of any path to success that doesn’t include bumps in the road. Success comes through persistence and staying on the path.

Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister asserted, “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” We need to remember that and make sure we don’t give up the fight too soon.

May God bless your efforts and give you the will and persistence to fight the good fight. Don’t be the cat that sits on the hot stove-lid and never sits on a stove-lid again. Just learn from your disappointments and hurts amd use them to propel you towards your dreams and success.

Have an awesome day and don’t let past disappointments get in the way of your dreams.

Sam
