The third reason people have trouble identifying their dream is:
3. SOME PEOPLE GET IN THE HABIT OF SETTLING FOR AVERAGE
Columnist Maureen Dowd says, ” The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get less than you settled for.” Dreams require a person to stretch, to go beyond average. You can’t reach a dream and remain safely mediocre at the same time. The two are incompatible.
When we are too uninspired to dream, when we settle for average, we may be tempted to blame it on others, on our circumstances, on the system. But the truth is that mediocrity is always a personal choice.
John Maxwell says that people who don’t possess compelling dreams are in danger of having their life merely slip away. Their days can become mundane, and then they become like their days.
Many of us grew up hearing “We can’t afford it!” We need to change our thinking and ask, “How can I afford it?” What if you make it a habit of asking yourself, “How can I afford that?” By doing that, we train our sub-conscious minds to dream bigger dreams and figure out a way to have those dreams come true.
There are already so many people that will try and snuff out your dreams without that little voice of yours adding to it. Most people don’t intentionally try to snuff out our dreams but how many times have you heard, “You can’t do that,” or “Oh, I’ve tried that and those things don’t work.” What about, “I’ll get involved when you’re making money,” or “I can’t believe you’re doing that.” These are just dream killers and most of the people saying this chatter have already given up on their own dreams.
Traditional businesses aren’t too keen on you having big dreams either. They want not want dreamers, they want workers. The network marketing industry is not only geared to helping you dream big, the business model is set up to to help you live those dreams. It encourages big dreams.
If you feel that your life is closer to average than you desire, you need to do more dreaming. Nothing helps to break someone out of a rut like a worthwhile dream.
I hope this inspires you to dream big and go for it.
Have an awesome day and don’t settle for average.
