Perseverance Comes From Our Why

I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.–John D. Rockefeller

Have you ever thought about quitting? Maybe you’ve thought what’s the use? Why not just give up and take it easy. Every one of us has probably felt that way from time to time. Even achievers and goal-directed people feel that way occasionally. That’s when perseverance gets tough.

So how do we persevere when things get tough? The answer depends on your “why.” Who are you working for besides yourself? Who is depending on you and will benefit if you persevere and succeed? Who can you help once you’ve achieved your goals? Maybe it’s for your children or parents. Maybe its for a ministry or needy organization. Maybe it’s for the ability to help in times of need, such as Haiti.

Your “why” must be more than yourself if you expect to persevere when the going gets tough. Otherwise, it’s too easy to just give up or quit. Write your “why” down and review it every day. Your “why” will change as time changes. My “why” was just to make extra money to help our family and others. My “why” now is to become financially free so I can live life like its supposed to be lived. Financial freedom gives you many choices. My “why” drives me to never give up or quit on myself or others.

Sometimes we need other people to help us keep the vision and persevere.  There have been many instances in history, when others helped their colleagues to persevere. Support those around you to persevere and live out their dreams.

Make sure you have a really strong “why” so you will persevere when the going gets tough.

Have an awesome day.
