Discipline or Procrastination

We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort. –Jesse Owens

Discipline is realizing the need for action coupled with implementation of the action. In other words, if we are aware that something needs to be done and then we act, we are living a life with disciplined activity. If a fair amount of time passes between the realization and the implementation, that would be procrastination. They are the opposite of each other. Procrastination is putting off until tomorrow what you can accomplish today.

If that little voice says you need to do this, then discipline would say get it done right now to the best of your ability. Procrastination says, you can always do it tomorrow. It can wait until I have more time or more information. Every decision and circumstance in life offers up these two choices: do it now or wait til later, discipline or procrastination.

How can you make the choice of discipline over procrastination? How can you stay focused on your ambitions? How do you develop an attitude of do it now? You can start by just staying focused on your work and not allowing yourself to put it off until tomorrow. If my goal was to make five calls a day or share my business overview twice a day, I just don’t let anything get in the way until I’ve accomplished the objective. It all comes down to consistent self-discipline each and every day. If we don’t stay that focused, we will get distracted by negative thoughts, negative people, and eventually self-doubt. It really does come down to the power of our consistent self-discipline. Make sure your living a life of discipline and not procrastination.

Have an awesome day and just do it.
