Every great success is an accumulation of thousands of ordinary efforts that no one sees or appreciates.–Brian Tracy
When you think of Ben Franklin, what comes to mind? It it a memory of Ben Franklin discovering electricity while flying a kite? Even though he didn’t discover electricity, he did invent the lightning rod. Is it possibly a memory of the Franklin Stove or maybe bifocals? Franklin invented many things and discovered many others. He also started Poor Richard’s Almanac in 1732 and in it he wrote bit’s and pieces of moral and practical advice.
Ben Franklin also gave us three principles of success that still apply today.
- Happiness doesn’t come from big pieces of great success but from small, daily achievements. What Mr. Franklin was saying was that success is a process. It doesn’t happen overnight. It means that big achievements are accomplished one small step at a time. You have to enjoy and take pride in all the little accomplishments and the process. It means being happy every day with who you are becoming in the pursuit of a larger goal.
- Life is not rigid. It means that you need to be flexible. You all have the ability to mold yourself into the person you want to be and also the environment you live in. What do you want to become? You need to have an idea what the final product will look like as you begin the molding process. You can make it whatever you want. You truly can accomplish anything you set your mind to based on how you mold yourself.
- Success is a pleasure. What does success mean to you? Success means something different to everyone. There is a common thread you will hear from all successful people and it is that they are happy with who they are and what they are doing. They are content and satisfied. When you know you are becoming the person you want to be, you can help but be happy with the process.
Here’s another great question to ask yourself. What have you done today that makes this day successful? Take some time and think about it and at the end of each day, ask yourself this question. What small steps each day will take you up the path of success? When you start to see a pattern of pleasure, you will know your on the right path to success. You have to learn to enjoy the process along the way. You can do it!!
Take some positive small steps today and make it an awesome day.
