Be Willing To Change

How is life going for you? Are you where you thought you would be 5 years ago? Are you in a mode of blaming the government, the economy, or others for the situation you find yourself in? Eleven years ago I was in that mode after being fired from a job. I was blaming others for what happened instead of taking responsibility. Even though it should have never happened, I had two choices. Either wallow around in self-pity and blame others or get going and rebuild my book of  business. Many years ago, Jim Rohn’s mentor, Mr. Shoaff made a simple little statement to Jim. He said:

“It’s not what happens in the world that determines the major part of your future. What happens, happens to us all. The key is what you do about it.”

What he was telling Jim is to start the process of change. You’ve heard it said, If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you keep getting what you’ve always got. The only way to get different results is to change something. It doesn’t matter whether it’s gaining more knowledge, losing weight, improving a relationship, saving more, or building a business. You just need to start the process.

Another secret to success he shared with Jim was when he told him, “All that you have at the moment, Mr. Rohn, you’ve attracted by the person you are.” At that point in time, Jim Rohn was pretty much broke and behind on all his promises. Jim Rohn asked his mentor how to change that and he was told:

“If you will change yourself, everything else will change for you. You don’t have to change what’s outside, all you’ve got to change is what’s inside. To have more, you simply have to become more.

Jim Rohn recently passed away, but he went on to become one of the greatest business philosophers and leaders of the personal development industry of our time. Jim started the process by changing himself from the inside. Through the course of his lifetime, he probably affected more people in a positive way than anyone else in his time period. He was one of my favorite teachers and mentors and you can learn so much from his writings. But first, you must be willing to change and work on yourself. If life is not going exactly as you planned, do something about it. Be willing to change. You can do it!!

Have an awesome day.
