Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the “gotta have it” scale.–Zig Ziglar
“Money is one of the greatest instruments of freedom ever invented by man.” This was written by economist Friedrich von Hayek in his 1944 masterpiece, The Road to Serfdom. He said the great thing about money is that you can spend it as you wish. It could even be argued that the ability to spend money freely is what separates a free person from a slave.
If you think about it, a slave has many of the essentials of life, a place to live, clothing, food to eat, and they always have a job. There is something a slave lacks, and that is choice. A slave doesn’t have the ability to save money so he can retire someday. He doesn’t have the ability to quit his job. He simply doesn’t have many choices.
I think that many people in today’s economy are living like slaves. Because of a lack of money, they no longer have choices. Because of so much debt load, they are trapped in the lives they lead. Many people think that the government “safety net” will save them from poverty and take care of them. Unfortunately, government handouts are not really any different slavery. Food stamps will only buy food. Housing credits will only buy basic housing. Unemployment only provides a base income. Medicaid will only provide basic medical care. Like a master, the government reserves the right to determine what your standard of living will be unless you take care of yourself by having enough money to give you choices.
For many of you who follow my writings, I have a mission to Help People Help Others. I want to inspire and encourage people to go win for themselves and their families and then go share how with someone else. Our economy continues to lose jobs and many are faced with a tough choice. We can beg the government for relief or we can go out and earn our freedom the hard way, through entrepreneurship. It is my sincere desire to inspire people to do something with their lives and make a difference in the lives of others and our world.
Money allows us to help others in need. Money allows us to make a difference. MONEY GIVES US CHOICES. Money gives us freedom. There are so many opportunities available to you in today’s economy. What it will require from you is to open up your mind to these opportunities, work first on yourself, and then just go for it. It will require a burning desire and tremendous effort. You have to make a choice, do you want to be a slave to money and debt, or do you want to want to have choices? MONEY GIVES US CHOICES.
Have an awesome day.
