Take A Risk

There isn’t a path to success that doesn’t involve risk. Aviator Charles Lindbergh said, “What kind of man would live where there is no daring? I don’t believe in taking foolish chances, but nothing can be accomplished if we don’t take any chances at all.” Risk is different to everyone. It’s very subjective. Risk for me was climbing a mountain 7,000 feet in elevation after a freezing rain . Risk for someone else might be having to speak in front of a group or making the decision to go after a new opportunity. Everybody has a different idea of risk and how much risk they are willing to take. In all cases of risk, we just need to decide whether the goal we have is worth the risk involved.

Everything in life involves risk. Riding in an automobile or on a motorcycle, flying, or even walking down the street involves a risk. There really is no risk-free activities or places. If we try something bold, it’s true that we risk failure, because we might not make it. It’s also true the less we venture out, the more we risk failure. Conversely, the more we risk failure, and actually fail, the greater our chances of success.

If we believe that, why do people back away from taking risks? One of the big reasons is we don’t want to embarrass ourselves. Nobody wants to look bad. We have to keep moving forward to not be going backward. Success comes in taking many small steps. Another reason we won’t take risks is the little voice starts to talk us out of taking a risk. The little voice wants to keep us in our comfort zone and not take any risks. If you try and fail you will have fewer regrets than if you simply do nothing and fail.

Many people think that life should be easy and when they discover that achievement takes effort, they give up way too easy. Success is hard work. Many people also wait for the timing to be right and the perfect timing never comes. They also wait for the inspiration before they are willing to step out and take a risk. Someone once said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” The reason we take risks is because we have something we want to achieve. A major key to achieving success is our willingness to take risks. Are you taking enough risks in your life? Are you willing to go for it?

Have an awesome day.
