Reasons For Failure

We have forty million reasons for failure, but not a single excuse.–Rudyard Kipling

There are many reasons why people fail and most of these reasons stem from our weaknesses. Everyone of us has weaknesses and one of the challenges that each of us face is to identify and work on our weaknesses. The other night the movie Troy was on and if you remember the story of Achilles, he was unbeatable as a warrior but he had one weakness and that was a tiny spot in his heel. That one flaw caused his death. We all have to be careful not to minimize our flaws or weakness so they won’t contribute to failure.

One of the main reasons people fail is a LACK OF PEOPLE SKILLS. This can be as simple as a poor understanding of people. An inability to relate to others. How are you when interacting with others? Do you try to meet their needs or yours? Do you listen carefully or do you do most of the talking? People skills is probably the most important skill you can develop. Steven Covey said that communication skill is the most important skill you can possess. People do business with people they like, trust and respect.

Another reason that people fail is a NEGATIVE ATTITUDE. We can’t always control the circumstances of our life, but our reaction to the circumstances has everything to do with our well being and success. In other words, if your circumstances are constantly getting you down, maybe it’s time for a change, not in your situation, but in your attitude. If you learn to make the best of any situation, you can overcome any obstacle that stands between you and your dreams.

Sometimes a LACK OF FOCUS causes failure. It’s easy in today’s world to become distracted and make an honest mistake. Lack of focus waste time and resources. Do you go from task to task without making much progress or can’t seem to reach your goals no matter how much effort you give it? Maybe you need to examine your focus. Without focus, you can’t move forward in fulfilling your dreams.

To be successful and fulfill your dreams, work on your PEOPLE SKILLS,  develop a POSITIVE ATTITUDE, and stay FOCUSED.

Have a magnificent day.
