Failure is Not Avoidable

Many of us need to look at our definition of failure and success. Changing our perspective on failure will help us persevere and ultimately achieve our dreams and desires. I fail everyday in some aspect of my life. Whether that’s not working out for the day, not making any calls in building my business, not eating right, not spending enough time in God’s word and prayer, not building relationships or devoting enough time to my wife and family. There are many ways that each of us fail every day.

Failure is not avoidable. Everyone makes mistakes and fails. If your living, your going to make mistakes. Many of you have heard the saying, “To err is human, to forgive divine.” This was written by Alexander Pope more than 250 years ago and he was just paraphrasing what was being said and taught more than 2000 years ago. So humans have always made mistakes and we always will.

I don’t know who originally wrote this but it’s called Rules for Being Human.

Rule #1: You will learn lessons.

Rule #2: There are no mistakes–only lessons.

Rule #3: A lesson is repeated until it is learned.

Rule #4: If you don’t learn the easy lessons, they get harder.

Rule #5: You’ll know you’ve learned a lesson when your actions change.

We are all imperfect and will make mistakes. Every time we make a mistake or fail, we need to learn from it. We need to constantly be evaluating what works and what doesn’t. We need to be growing everyday so we don’t make the same mistake. Understanding that FAILURE IS NOT AVOIDABLE helps us to see that failure is just a part of the bigger picture. Failure is inevitable on the road to success.

Have a awesome day and a wonderful weekend.
