How To Develop Persistence

“Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence. The extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach is the secret of winning.” –Denis Waitley

To carry on with the thought of persistence from last week, Napoleon Hill says there are four simple steps that will lead you to the habit of persistence. It is something that can be developed and it doesn’t take a certain amount of intelligence or education, but it does take a little bit of time and effort. The four steps are:

  1. A definite purpose backed by an intense desire for it’s fulfillment.
  2. A definite plan expressed in terms of continuous action.
  3. A mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including those from family, friends and neighbors.
  4. A friendly alliance with one or more people who will encourage you to follow through with both plan and purpose.

If you were to do a study of successful people, you would find that Persistence, concentration of effort, and Definiteness of Purpose were the major sources of their achievements. These four steps can control one’s destiny. These steps lead to freedom and independence of thought. These are the steps that lead to riches, big or small. These steps also lead to mastery of FEAR, DISCOURAGEMENT, and INDIFFERENCE. These four steps will not only help you develop persistence but they will lead you to achievement and success.

Have a awesome day and work on being persistent.
