On Saturday night I watched the movie “The Dreamer.” If you haven’t had a chance to watch this movie, put it on your list, and sit down with your kids or grand-kids and watch this movie. Not only is it one of the few family movies available today, but it teaches so many life lessons. The movie is based upon a true story. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I will tell you it is about a horse racing family in Lexington, Kentucky and is the type of movie where you will laugh, cry, and root for this little girl to fulfill her dream.
The biggest lesson this movie teaches is to dream and never give up on your dreams. It teaches you that if your willing to dream and take a risk in life, that anything is possible. It teaches us there will be challenges and roadblocks that will get in the way of us fulfilling our dreams but if we persevere stay the course, our dreams will become reality. This little girl also teaches us to have a strong faith and believe with all our heart that it’s possible, then it is. She also teaches adults that we need to have a childlike faith in believing in ourselves and our dreams. Last night, Jessie, one of my team leaders, sent me a text taken from II Timothy 1:7. “For God HAS NOT given us the spirit of fear, but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of SOUND MIND.” Fear is unfounded and exists only in our own mind. Through faith, we can accomplish anything.
The story also shows that families with a common dream and purpose will be much tighter and close knit than those without a common purpose. It shows the sacrifice of all the members of the family will make if they have a common vision or dream. It shows the willpower of fulfilling the dream, even at the expense of making money or selling out. Living and fulfilling a dream brings happiness and success and not the money.
I hope I have inspired you to go rent this movie. It will tear at your heart strings occasionally, but more importantly, I hope it will cause you to dream big and then go fulfill your dreams and vision. Don’t let anything or anyone tell you you can’t.
Have a absolutely super day and dream big.
