“Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives. One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it. That is what goals can do for us; concentrate our energy.” –Dennis Waitley
Settings goals is a key to success. Great achievers have all succeeded because they had a dream or a vision and then mapped out their plans on how to get there. If you want to fulfill the life you’ve dreamed of, you must start out by setting goals.
Simply writing down your goals is not enough. That alone won’t get them accomplished. You have to be committed and stay committed to your goals until they are completed. I know that is easier said than done. That’s why 95% of the people who set goals or make New Year’s resolutions give up on them by the end of the first month.
You have to be actively engaged in accomplishing your goals, and to that end, you have to understand why you are setting them. If your “Why” is strong enough or big enough, the “How” will become easy. If the “Why” isn’t identified or strong enough, any level of difficulty will be enough to discourage or defeat you. If your “Why” is big enough, you’ll always figure out the “How.”
“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” –Friedrich Nietzsche
Take some time today to dream and think about where you would like to be in one, three, or five years from now. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll talk about how you can turn those dreams into reality. You truly can design your own future but you need to start dreaming first.
Have an awesome day and dream big and often.
