Manage Your Attitude

One of the most important skills we can learn on the path to achieving our greatest potential is to manage our attitude. When we learn to manage our attitude and understand it’s impact on our work performance, physical and mental health, and our relationships, we move towards self mastery. Everyday, we have a choice. We can be positive or we can be negative. We can choose self-encouragement and self-motivation, or we can choose self-pity and self-defeat. You’ve heard me say that it’s not what happens to us, its how we react and respond. It’s our choice. We all have that power.

Our mind is just like a computer. What gets programmed into our mind can either be productive or unproductive and whatever we program into our mind will be reflected in what comes out. You’ve heard the saying garbage in, garbage out. We all have an inner voice that talks to us. That inner voice can work for us or against us, depending on the input we allow. It can be optimistic or pessimistic. It can take you down or bring you up. We can control what the little voice is saying to us. You control the input but only if you accept the responsibility and take control over that little voice. You also have to take control of the input and messages that are received from other people. Are the people your associating with encouraging and empowering you?

Initially, it takes a lot of work to manage your attitude and the input your mind receives. The more you consciously manage your attitude, the easier it becomes.  The rewards of successfully managing your attitude will last a lifetime.

Be conscious of managing your attitude and have an awesome day.

Sam
