Develop Good habits

Have you picked at least one habit to change? Hopefully, you taken some time to think about it. Better yet, block off an hour or so and really think through the process of identifying your bad habits. Plan that time when you won’t be interupted and really be honest with yourself. What getting in the way of you being the person you want to be? What’s holding you back from being successful? By identifying your bad habits, you remove the obstacles to your goals and dreams and create a springboard for your future success. Until you know what’s holding you back, it’s difficult to change to more productive or successful habits.

Once you’ve identified bad habits, you need to know how to change them to good habits. A great exercise I learned years ago was to learn and then mirror the positive habits od successful people. Successful people have successful habits. What if you interviewed one successful person each month? Set up a meeting and ask lots of good questions about their disciplines, routines, and habits. What do they read? How do they schedule and spend their time? What have been the biggest keys to their success? Be prepared and efficient when you do this because successful people are extremely busy people and usually very task oriented.

Listen intently and take good notes. You will learn a wealth of powerful ideas and if you are organized and sincere, successful people are happy to share their ideas and successes. They enjoy the opportunity to coach  and mentor people who are genuinely interested in learning and improving their lives. Another way to study successful people is to read their biographies and autobiographies. These books are packed with ideas and if you simply read one book each month you’ll be amazed at how much knowledge you have gained. You can also watch television documentaries and listen to motivational and educational CD’s while driving in your car. I have learned that almost all successful people listen to CD’s. This can be done while driving or exercising.

Some of my own goals are to read at least 10 pages of a good book every day, read at least 2 chapters of the bible each day, and listen to CD’s at least 15 minutes a day. This is where most of my learning comes from.

Have a awesome day and be the best you can be.

Sam
